Activity #6:

GIVE & RECEIVE

VALENTINE’S DAY is about CELEBRATING LOVE and ROMANCE, but I think it’s a GREAT DAY to CELEBRATE RELATIONSHIPS with all those SPECIAL TO YOU.

In relationships EXPRESSING YOURSELF and COMMUNICATING are a KEY to living HEALTHY and FULFILLING RELATIONSHIPS. BALANCE, important in all facets of life, is equally IMPORTANT within a RELATIONSHIP and it’s the GIVING and RECEIVING that helps us ACHIEVE that.

Today’s activity ‘GIVE & RECEIVE’ is all about that. CELEBRATING and REFLECTING on our SPECIAL RELATIONSHIPS and how we can make them HAPPIER, STRONGER and more LOVING. And it couldn’t be a more PERFECT DAY to Launch it on – VALENTINE’S DAY!

It’s my FIRST ACTIVITY that INVOLVES doing it as a PARTNERSHIP too, so it’s super outrageously ridiculously fun for the both of you.

I HOPE YOU all get out of it as much as WE DID.

Activity Description: With a partner, on a heart, each write some things you want to give to the relationship to make it even more special and write some things you both receive from the relationship that make you feel special.

Materials:

  • A partner

  • 2 pieces of paper (preferably red)

  • Textas, pens or pencils

  • Arts and crafts

  • Scissors

  • Hole punch

  • Ribbon

Steps:

  1. Find a partner to do the activity with.

  2. Each of you grab a sheet of paper.

  3. Fold your sheets of paper in half.

  4. Place them on the table, side by side, with the fold lines in the centre.

  5. Draw a heart which covers both sheets, each doing a half on your sheet.

  6. Cut your half of the heart out on your sheet with scissors.

  7. Write your name on the front and decorate if you wish.

  8. Open the heart and on the left-hand side of the fold line write some things that you want to give to your relationship with your partner that will make it an even more special and fulfilling relationship.

  9. Then, on the right-hand side of the fold line write some things that you receive from your partner in relationship that you appreciate, make you feel special and in a fulfilling relationship.

  10. With a hole punch, put a hole in the centre of the heart.

  11. Put some ribbon through the hole to make a loop.

  12. Trade your hearts with your partner and read what each of you has written.

  13. Hang your hearts up somewhere special.

  DONE!
