Activity #1:

MY CAPE

I had an absolute ball with this activity! Making my own cape at home and decorating it with whatever I liked. Then getting to wear it… HOW FUN!

My favourite thing was probably adding the features to the cape. Not only because it was exciting, but because I applied a deeper meaning to why I was putting them on my cape. Hopefully this teaches the kids viewing the activity something at the same time.

I hope you enjoy everyone.

Activity Description: Design your own cape from household items.

Materials:

  • Centrepiece: Sheet of paper, fabric or cardboard (any colour)

  • Decorations: Arts and crafts

  • Neck strap: Some clips and string or rope.

*Everything found at your local Spotlight, Officeworks or Bunnings store.

Steps:

  1. Pick out what you are going to design your cape out of. Some Examples - pillow case, towel, blanket, small rug, flag or suit cover.

  2. Add the centrepiece. This could be anything: your initials, a shape, smiley face, wings or favourite number.

  3. Decorate your cape. Go wild with anything you can find!

  4. Attach the neck strap. Your clips could be whatever you can think of. Maybe: safety pins, hair clips, paper clips. Then join the neck strap which can be any type of string. Some examples – shoe lace, ribbon or wool

DONE!
